California, a rug created by Nathalie Du Pasquier in 1983, reflects the creativity of its creator: a riot of different visual stimuli, collected over the years by the designer, is presented here in a work that unites past and present, craftsmanship and industry. A black-on-blue spotted pattern forms the backdrop for red triangles, white squares dotted with black dots, and central yellow and red stripes. Positioned along the yellow, green, red, and black frame, these shapes play with the geometry of the rectangular border in apparent chaos. Instead, everything is studied down to the smallest detail, creating a unique composition with typical Memphis characteristics. 100% Tibetan wool rug, hand-knotted on a handcrafted loom.
