Robert Dudley Best designed the BL9 Pendant as part of his Bauhaus-inspired Bestlite series. While guiding Best & Lloyd into modernist production, he created a pendant that combines precise engineering with understated form. Today, GUBI continues to produce the BL9 with the same attention to craftsmanship and authenticity.

The BL9 features a clean, dome-shaped shade that directs light downward for focused illumination. Available in multiple sizes and finishes, it adapts seamlessly to dining rooms, kitchens, or workspaces. Its minimal form allows it to integrate effortlessly into both classic and contemporary interiors, while its purposeful design ensures functional performance.

Architects’ Journal recognized the Bestlite as Britain’s first Bauhaus-style lighting, and the collection’s legacy grew when Winston Churchill placed a Bestlite at his desk. The BL9 remains in continuous production and is represented in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London.
