Gianfranco Frattini introduced the Model 597 Floor Lamp as his inaugural lighting design in 1961. Its whimsical nylon fringes drew inspiration from both fashion and the fringed doorway curtains of Italian cafés in the 1950s. Today, GUBI has revived the original concept alongside the Frattini estate, preserving its artistry and structural whimsy.
The lamp features a cylinder-shaped aluminum base surrounded by cascading fringes. Encountering light from multiple lateral bulbs and an uplight above, it casts a radiant 360° glow softened by the fringe texture. You can control light layers separately via a dual-button switch on the cord.
Frattini made a light statement with serious substance. The Model 597 balances joyful expression and refined functionality, all while maintaining clarity of form. Now reissued with modern craftsmanship, it retains its vintage charm and deserves a place in modern interiors craving both character and ambient elegance.
