Mads Caprani created the Timberline Floor Lamp to evoke sculptural whimsy rooted in organic form. GUBI revived his design with care, using reverse-engineered curves and layered wood to maintain its distinctive profile.
The lamp features a sinuous stem crafted from stacked oak and birch, forming a sweeping arc. A canvas shade directs light downward, and the hidden cord channels through a central spine groove, preserving its seamless curve. This lamp anchors modern interiors while bringing natural warmth and sculptural rhythm.
Caprani drew inspiration from the form of a question mark, sketching that curve until it revealed this iconic shape. Decorative and functional, the cast-iron base ensures stability despite its almost playful imbalance. The Timberline quickly became a design sensation in the 1970s.
