001 Stool

001 Stool designed by Fredrik Paulsen for Vaarnii. The 001 Stool is essential, immediate, and resilient. Like the Dining Tables and Chairs before it, Fredrik Paulsen has created a pleasingly archetypal design. Although the Stool is the smallest object in the 001 families, this small seat loses none of the bulk that characterizes its siblings. Generous dimensions of timber are used to full effect, making a reliably sturdy object. Yet 001 Stool is light enough to be moved around easily because Paulsen wanted to be clear about designing practical everyday seating. Made in Finland of Finnish pine. All Vaarnii products are made locally by a small number of expert Finnish makers. All pinewood is harvested from sustainably managed Finnish forests. Our outdoor products are made of heat-treated pine, Lunawood ThermoWood®. Thermowood is a non-toxic material produced by using only heat, and steam. The heat treatment makes the furniture weatherproof, so no other surface treatment is required. If you wish, you can treat your Osa furniture with natural wood finishes for the exterior (such as decking oil), which can help keep the product clean.  Once unboxed, products will react very quickly with UV light and begin changing color towards a beautiful silver tone. They will reach their final color after approximately one year outdoors. Contact us for a sample piece of the aged thermowood. Although our pine wood is the hardest soft wood you can find, it will dent and scratch over time. We ask you to embrace these characterful signs of aging.
